Four From Wrestling Advance to Day Two of NCAA Regionals

WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – Four Cedar Crest College wrestling student-athletes have advanced to day two of the NCAA Super Regional Super Regional 2, hosted by West Liberty University.

First-year Mary Lopes (Barnet, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) went 0-2 on the day, losing by decision to Ava Paul of Bethany and Jeulenea Khang of West Liberty University by fall in the consolation round.

Junior Leilani Martinez (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township Senior) also went 0-2 on the day, being defeated by Eastern University's Ana Morales by tech fall and Nila Bland of West Liberty University via fall.

First-year Andi Bibeau (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) collected a 2-1 record on day one, collecting a win by fall over Isabella Washington-Vazquez of East Stroudsburg University, pinning her opponent in 2:49. Bibeau followed that performance with a loss via decision to Pitt Johnstown's Tamara Humphries, 8-4. She rebounded for a win by tech fall over Taylor Mazzoni of Delaware Valley University. Bibeau advanced to day two and will open action against Taelor Rae Busch of Bethany on Saturday. Bibeau's two wins brings her win total to 18 on the season.

Junior Alaina Stanford (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) went 0-2 on the day, falling to Bethany's Rosemary Dodd by decision, 4-2, and Jaylene Martinez of Gannon University via fall.

First-year Madacyn Snyder (Wind Gap, Pa./Pen Argyl) went 1-1 on the day, dropping a match by fall to Kryssceah Ravenelle of Lehigh University. After a medical forfeit, Snyder advanced to day two where she will square off against Paisley Fox of Ursinus College. The win puts Snyder at 20 victories on the season, setting the new program record for wins in a season.

Junior Maddie Stultz (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) lost a pair of matches by fall, one to Zoey Haines of Eastern University and the other to Arcadia's Chase Marie Ryan.

Senior Draydon Charman (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) went 0-2, losing by fall and tech fall. Charman ends her career with 53 wins, the most in program history.

Junior Janeyda Ortiz (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) started her day with a setback via tech fall to Janiya Brogan of West Liberty University and then responded with a win by fall over Delaware Valley University's Kaylee Hudson, pinning her opponent in 54 seconds. She advances to tomorrow's action where she will begin against Allison Brandt of York College of Pennsylvania.

Junior Sarah Seltzer (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) went 1-1 on the day, earning the victory by fall over Kayla Maldonado of Alvernia University, pinning her opponent in 43 seconds. Seltzer then lost to Jamie Shapton of West Liberty University by tech fall. Seltzer advances to day two where she will begin her day against Patricia Deslandes.

Cedar Crest will return to the mat for day two of the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m.
