Eight From Softball Honored By CSAC; Mundy Named as Pitcher of the Year

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Eight student-athletes from the Cedar Crest College softball team were recognized by the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) in its release of the end of season awards and all-conference teams, the league office announced on Thursday. Junior Corinne Mundy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush) headlined the selections as she was named as the CSAC Pitcher of the Year.

Mundy claimed the conference's Pitcher of the Year award after pitching in every game of the season for the Falcons. She tossed 212.2 total innings and 31 complete games in 34 appearances. Mundy collected a record of 17-16 and tallied 81 strikeouts. The junior led the conference in wins, complete games, innings pitched, and ranked fifth in the league in strikeouts. She was also one of the Falcons' league-high six First Team All-Conference selections.

Joining Mundy on the First Team was graduate student Ashley Heller (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), senior Brianna Lankford (Hanover, Pa./South Western Senior), graduate student Delaney VanBuskirk (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge), sophomore Alexis Kline (Allentown, Pa./Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter), and senior Renee Snyder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland).

Heller is a First Team selection after she played in and started all 34 games while tallying a .370 batting average with 34 hits, five doubles, four triples, 16 RBI, 47 total bases, and 35 runs scored. Additionally, she stole five bases and had a fielding percentage of .991.

Lankford lands on the First Team for the second straight season. She appeared in all 34 games, starting in all of them. Lankford batted .221 with 25 hits, five doubles, one triple, 23 RBI, 32 total bases, and nine runs scored. She was also a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen bases attempts. In the field, Lankford sported a .948 fielding percentage.

VanBuskirk is another repeat First Team selection. The graduate student saw time in all 34 games, making 34 starts. She tallied a .318 batting average to go along with 34 hits, five doubles, 28 RBI, 39 total bases, and 26 runs scored. VanBuskirk also had five stolen bases and a fielding percentage of .952.

Kline jumps up to the First Team after earning a Second Team nod last year. The sophomore played in 27 games, starting in all of them. She batted a team-high .424 with an OPS of 1.026. In addition, Kline recorded 36 hits, nine doubles, one triple, 18 RBI, 47 total bases, and 21 runs scored. Kline sported a fielding percentage of .832.

Snyder is the final First Team selection for Cedar Crest. The senior appeared in 28 games, starting in them all. She collected 37 hits, two doubles, two triples, 19 RBI, and 43 total bases, and 24 runs scored while batting .366. Snyder tallied a perfect fielding percentage and went 7-for-8 on stolen bases.

First-year Natalie Hasert (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) was the lone Cedar Crest student-athlete on the Second Team. Hasert played in all 34 games as a first-year and recorded a .294 batting average with 32 hits, three doubles, one triple, 29 RBI, and 26 runs scored. The first-year had a team-high 15 stolen bases and had a fielding percentage of .909.

First-year Kenzie Pickard (Levittown, Pa./Philadelphia Academy Charter) rounded out the honorees as the Falcons' representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Cedar Crest finished the 2023 campaign with a 17-17 overall record and a 14-2 mark in league play.
