Depew Nominated For NCAA Super Region II Coach of the Year Award

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Cedar Crest College Head Wrestling Coach Alex Depew has been nominated for the NCAA Women's Super Regional 2 Coach of the Year Award. This is the second consecutive year that Depew has been nominated for the award.

Depew joins Andrew Taylor (Eastern University), Brazel Marquez (Lehigh University), Duane Bastress (York College of Pennsylvania), Pete DiPol (Bethany College), and Shane Valko (University of Pittsburg Johnstown) as the full list of nominees.

Super Region II includes Alvernia, Arcadia, Bethany, Cedar Crest, Delaware Valley, East Stroudsburg, Eastern, Edinboro, Gannon, Lehigh, Lock Haven, Muhlenberg, Penn State Altoona, Point Park, Pittsburg Johnstown, Ursinus, West Liberty, and York.

Depew, in his fourth year at the helm of the Falcons, finished the 2025-26 dual match portion of the schedule with an 8-1 record, along with rostering 16, and placing second at the Millersville Open. Under Coach Depew's direction, Cedar Crest hasn't lost a home match since 2024.

To go along with the team accolades, multiple Falcons have achieved great individual success this season.

First-year Madacyn Snyder (Wind Gap, Pa./Pen Argyl) leads the team with 19 wins to go along with earning a third-place finish at the Southern Virginia Invitational and sixth place at the Will Abele Invitational

First-year Andi Bibeau (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) placed at three tournaments, placing second at the Millersville Open, second at the Southern Virginia Invitational, and third at the Will Abele Invitational.

Senior Draydon Charman (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) won the title at 160 at the Southern Virginia University Invitational and took fourth at the Millersville Open.

Junior Sarah Seltzer (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) was a place-winner at four different events, including sixth place at the Princeton Open, third at the Millersville Open, fifth at the Southern Virginia University Invitational, and sixth place at the Will Abele Invitational.

Sophomore Mel Val (Tracy City, Tenn./St. Andrew's Sewanee) won the title at 110 at the Millersville Open.

Junior Alaina Stanford (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) collected two place finishes, taking third at the Millersville Open and fifth at the Southern Virginia University Invitational.

Junior Janeyda Ortiz (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) registered a second-place finish at the Millersville Open.

The voting will be conducted by the other head coaches in the region and the winner will be announced the night before the regional tournament, which begins on Friday, February 20.
